Ray Bradbury Quote Extra Credit by Kacey M.

"we have our arts so we don't die of truth"
-Ray Bradbury

To me this is really true and so honest and real because without arts and creativity this world would be a lifeless voidof hate and brutally honest people. Creativity to many is an outlet if it's writing or listening to music thi. This world was built up by arts and the love of the individuality of each of them and Ray Bradbury I think gets it and that's why he partially wrote F451 because he wanted to show society thsat creating technology is okay but don't let it interfere with our creative flow and the importance of actually sitting down and working on a poem or painting a picture and to never forget that , that is actually possible and the importance of it.

Better Gets Worse By Aki M.

"Ours is a culture and a time immensely rich in trash as it is in treasures."
                                                                                                               Ray Bradbury
This quote to me means that when technology gets better people get worse. Ten years ago computers were big screens and you could not leave the room with that big blocky machine. Now in this day and age you can use you phone and computer anywhere and do anything without anybody seeing it. Sadly this cycle will go on forever like this quote said.

Meaning Behind the Words by Candice Olson

On legacy, through a character in Fahrenheit 451:
"Everyone must leave something behind when he dies, my grandfather said. A child or a book or a painting or a house or a wall built or a pair of shoes made. Or a garden planted. Something your hand touched some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you’re there."

This quote is inspiring to me because behind it there is a lot of meaning and logic to it. I also beleive that this quote has double meaning behind it when the quote says "Or a garden planted. Something your hand touch some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die." I think that also means the creation of life. When you die and your child is left behind, some people can look at that child and see you or when the child see's it's reflection it can see you. That child is the tree or that flower that you planted in the soil of the earth.

Connections by Josh James

For the students that have read the book theif and are now reading Fahrenheit 451. You may have noticed some similarity in the two books, for one the value of books them selfs, weather it be good or bad. The burning of books, and how books are taken and saved from the deadly flames; Even when it is illegal because of the topic doesn't further someones means. Instead they burn them and destroy them.

The Blizzard doesn't last forever...it just seems so.

"[S]tarting when I was fifteen I began to send short stories to magazines like Esquire, and they, very promptly, sent them back two days before they got them! I have several walls in several rooms of my house covered with the snowstorm of rejections, but they didn’t realize what a strong person I was; I persevered and wrote a thousand more dreadful short stories, which were rejected in turn. Then, during the late forties, I actually began to sell short stories and accomplished some sort of deliverance from snowstorms in my fourth decade. But even today, my latest books of short stories contain at least seven stories that were rejected by every magazine in the United States and also in Sweden! So … take heart from this. The blizzard doesn’t last forever; it just seems so."
-Ray Bradbury
This quote speaks to me like a microphone in the ear. Feelings have recently come towards me days before I had started reading Fahrenheit 451. They were questions almost exactly like the ones Clarrisse asks Guy Montag. As I began reading and noticing how much of a coincidence it was I just laughed. I laughed and laughed and laughed until I didn't know what to do with myself anymore. These feelings that flooded me before had brought me down and pulled me back out.
This quotes sums up everything I need to take to heart right now, I may have been in the dark with not one hand reaching out towards me, but I'm not the only one in there. Sooner or later I realized others in the same position had found me and I, them. This quote just gave me so much inspiration for the exact spot I am climbing out of. I thank you Mr. Bradbury.

Subject: The Giraffe Test
Giraffe Test
There are 4 questions. Don’t miss one.

1. How do you put a giraffe into a refrigerator?
Stop and think about it and decide on your answer before you scroll down.

The correct answer is: Open the refrigerator, put in the giraffe, and close the door. This question tests whether you tend to do simple things in an overly complicated way.

2. How do you put an elephant into a refrigerator?

Did you say, Open the refrigerator, put in the elephant, and close the refrigerator?

Wrong Answer.

Correct Answer: Open the refrigerator, take out the giraffe, put in the elephant and close the door. This tests your ability to think through the repercussions of your previous actions..

3. The Lion King is hosting an animal conference. All the animals
attend .... Except one. Which animal does not attend?

Correct Answer : The Elephant. The elephant is in the refrigerator. You just put him in there. This tests your memory.. Okay, even if you did not answer the first three questions correctly, you still have one more chance to show your true abilities.
4. There is a river you must cross but it is used by crocodiles, and you do not have a boat. How do you manage it?

Correct Answer:? You jump into the river and swim across. Have you not been listening? All the crocodiles are attending the Animal Meeting. This tests whether you learn quickly from your mistakes.

According to Anderson Consulting Worldwide, around 90% of the
Professionals they tested got all questions wrong, but many preschoolers got several correct answers. Anderson Consulting says
this conclusively proves the theory that most professionals do not have the brains of a four-year-old.

Weird vs. Normal vs. Different vs. Same
I have discovered something. When people say, "You're weird." Most people who like to get smart with them say something along the lines of, " Well technically speaking, everyone is weird in some way so technically speaking no one is normal." I have found this to be ultimately false.
When people say that no one is NORMAL, what they are really saying is that there is no NORMAL. My theory is this: EVERYONE is NORMAL. Everyone wants to be WEIRD. Everyone is the SAME. Everyone wants to be DIFFERENT. See I have met so many people who say that they are crazy fans of this so and so band or this so and so television show. I have met so many people who say that they are doing ridiculous things or that say that they like the most peculiar things or they spend their spare time doing things that no one would ever really do.
Why do these people do these things? It isn't necessarily because they like the things they are doing or enjoy these things that they are becoming. They just want to be DIFFERENT. People want to stand out. They want to show their originality. They want to be someone who everyone else will remember. Someone who will be remembered for more than just the kid in your math class that you can't recall the name of.
I am not saying that all human beings are exactly the SAME. I am just saying that there is a NORMAL, and everyone starts out that way, and if you trace everyone back to their roots, they're are about as NORMAL as NORMAL can get. People say that there is no real defined terms for NORMAL. I say that in fact there most certainly is.
See, this is how this works. Everyone is generally the SAME.  Each person subconsciously realizes that they are the SAME as everyone else. With our human rebellious nature, we all develop a desire to become DIFFERENT. So people begin trying interests in newer things that others wouldn't necessarily be interested in. Because of this, everyone ends up being a bit DIFFERENT.  Then there are those who decide that they need to be more DIFFERENT, because just plain DIFFERENT  is not DIFFERENT enough. So the people who wish to be more than DIFFERENT, try to make themselves more DIFFERENT.  This higher amount of DIFFERENT, is the definition of WEIRD.
Why do we think people are WEIRD? We think people are weird, solely because they are more DIFFERENT, than we are. I say everyone is NORMAL at heart. However, everyone is DIFFERENT appearing to everyone else.
Therefore everyone is NORMAL. It does have a definition. The "WEIRD" people are the ones that are supposedly trying to be more DIFFERENT  than the rest of us. I applaud them for being ahead of everyone else. Just make sure that in the process of increasing your WEIRDNESS, that you are still comfortably you.

By: Some one who just wants to state their opinion. I don't think anyone is weird, is that a crime? :D

Love what you do. Nate Christensen

"Love what you do and do what you love. Don’t listen to anyone else who tells you not to do it. You do what you want, what you love. Imagination should be the center of your life." -Ray Bradbury

I really, really like this quote! It reminds me of something my parents always said, that I should always do what I wanted to do and to not let others change my perspective in things. Ray Bradbury says it perfectly though, that we should all do what we want or what we love to do. I think we can all try to do what we love and like Ray Bradbury said, imagination should be the center of your life. Those are some very true words.

We have our Arts so we won’t die of Truth."
-Ray Bradbury

This is awesome. It is very blunt and true. It doesn't involve any convoluted descriptions of arts, it just plainly comes out and says the truth.

Bradbury By Robert Ruben

These quotes are awesome. The first quote is so true. As an artist, I don't care what others tell me to draw because when I draw, I improvise the entire time and the outcome is a mystery. From That is where the fun of drawing comes.

The last one is just plain "cute" and a bit motivational. It makes you want do something important in this world.

Baconator- Shaun Peretto

To me, poetry is like a Triple Baconator combo with a large fry and Coca-Cola. It is warm and juicy in the center and it makes you cry when you finish it. It may look like it was a waste of time at first but, when you take a bite your mouth feels like Zeus struck you with a lightning bolt.

"If you know how to read, you have a complete education about life, then you know how to vote within a democracy. But if you don’t know how to read, you don’t know how to decide. That’s the great thing about our country — we’re a democracy of readers, and we should keep it that way."
- Ray Bradbury
I love this one because by reading you know now have an education of life and you know how to vote. If  you don't read then you have no way to decide. We really need to keep it a democracy of readers because it seems better that way.
“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”

You only have one life to live. By, Jessica Christenson

"Love what you do and do what you love. Don’t listen to anyone else who tells you not to do it. You do what you want, what you love. Imagination should be the center of your life."

We should be the only control of our life. Why take someone else's point of view on something that you do when it's your life and only yours. We all hear the phrase: "YOLO" at times this phrase can be overpublished, over used, and let's just say annoying. We only have this one life to live so why not live it well? Do you want to live a life full of things that you wanted others to believe you were? Something so fake and useless that the only person gaining from it is others? I do not believe so. Live the life that you want to live. Do the things you and only you want to do. Don't take other people's opinions to heart. Where is that going to get them when it's not even affecting you? Love and regret. Dream and repent. Remember that people that mind don't matter, and things that matter don't mind.

Space Llamas in Space -Parker Simmons

Computer Tech is one of my easiest classes, I tend to finish my assignment fairly quickly, leaving me with all this time on my hands. What do I do with all of this time? Good question. I often open Microsoft paint and spill random thoughts to the pages. Today however, I did not have enough time to paint a whole entire new painting. Once presented with this predicament, I figured I could take one of the pictures I am using for another project in another class and transform it into something entirely new.
This is what came out.

Above a few more.

"Do What You Love..." by Sydney Durrant

"Love what you do and do what you love. Don’t listen to anyone else who tells you not to do it. You do what you want, what you love. Imagination should be the center of your life."
-Ray Bradbury
I really like this quote--especially when it's coming from Ray Bradbury--because it describes the way everyone should be, and the way Ray Bradbury was.  You should be doing something you love with your life, without worrying about what people are going to think about you.  Don't let people's opinions hold you back.  As Dr. Seuss said, "Don't be afraid to be who you are and say what you think, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."  You shouldn't be afraid to dream, and once you have a dream, you shouldn't be afraid to follow it, even if the world laughs at you.  They don't matter anyways.

Ray Bradbury Quote- Hannah Mismash

"That’s the great secret of creativity. You treat ideas like cats: you make them follow you." -Ray Bradbury
It's saying that you're in control of your thoughts.  You can control what you think and come up with new things.  I love this quote because it's funny because he related to things to each other that normally people wouldn't think to compare to each other.

Ray Bradbury Quote: Anna Heaton

"Ours is a culture and a time immensely rich in trash as it is in treasures." -Ray Bradbury
I really love this quote, because I think it really describes our society. True, there is trash and horrible things, but for every piece of garbage that we find, there is a treasure somewhere in the world that can block out the horrors. A lot of times people think that there's nothing to live for, and that life is something that is to be tolerated, instead of enjoyed. What they don't realize is that if they look hard enough, there are so many things to be happy about! Our society would be a lot better if we didn't take anything for granted and realized how wonderful it is to simply be alive.

Ray Bradbury- Rheannon Longhurst

"Everyone must leave something behind when he dies, my grandfather said. A child or a book or a painting or a house or a wall built or a pair of shoes made. Or a garden planted. Something your hand touched some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you’re there."  -Ray Bradbury
I love this quote! To me it means that all of the stuff we buy or make, won't really matter when we die if it didn't touch a person's soul in some way. So, in our lives that should be our main goal in all that we do: to let it change a person for the better just from meeting us or from something we have created.

Bailey Kirk is Quoting Ray Bradbury

"Love what you do and do what you love. Don’t listen to anyone else who tells you not to do it. You do what you want, what you love. Imagination should be the center of your life." -Ray Bradbury
This quote is a quote I chose for extra credit. That's it.
Just kidding! I love the content of this quote, it stood out to me out of all the others. Always do what you love and, always listen to what your heart is telling you. Imagination is they key in life; it will help you succeed in your future. Don't listen to what others tell you you love.

Ray Bradbury quote: Alley Meriwether

"Love what you do and do what you love. Don’t listen to anyone else who tells you not to do it. You do what you want, what you love. Imagination should be the center of your life."
                                                                                -Ray Bradbury
I chose this quote because it stood out the most to me. Ray Bradbury really believed in living your life to the fullest. He thought you should do what you want with your life and not do what everyone else wants you to. I believe that too. It's a very inspiring quote. Ray Bradbury was a very inspiring man. He still is. His memory still lives on.

Romeo and Juliet: Act 1 Scene 5 Mindy Jessop

Romeo. If I touch your hand with my unworthy hand I will have to commit a sin with it. My lips are like blushing pilgrims that are ready to smooth out the rough with a kiss.
Juliet. Oh silly pilgrim! Don't doubt your hands too much because saints have hands that touch pilgrims hands. That makes me a saint and you a sinning pilgrim! Palm to palm is a holy kissed shared.
Romeo. Well saints have lips and pilgrims also have lips. So shouldn't they share a holy kiss?
Juliet. Sorry, but pilgrims need their lips more for praying and/or repenting.
Romeo. Oh but please let lips touch like hands! Turn to despair and leave your faith momentarily while with me.
Juliet. Saints do not take action so they won't have to repent.
Romeo. Then don't take action while my prayer/wish comes true. I must sin! [Kisses her.]
Juliet. Now I must sin after that!
Romeo. Oh I must sin again much sweetly as if I were Zac Effron! [Kisses her.]
Juliet. You literally take the words out of my mouth!

Romeo and Juliet, Act 2 Sc. 2 #61

Romeo: He mocks something he knows not of.
Juliet is as beautiful as the rising sun. Rosaline only wishes she could be as beautiful as you. Here she is! The woman I love! She is saying something, but I am too preoccupied with her beauty to know what. Oh, she is as beautiful as the stars in the night sky! I wish I could be up there with her!
Juliet: Oh my!
Romeo: Keep talking, because I think you're the most beautiful person I've ever seen.
Juliet: Why are you Romeo Montague? If you were anybody else, I could go out with you in public!
Romeo: Should I answer, or smile and nod so she can keep talking?
Juliet: If you were not my enemy, my parents would approve of this. You are not, however, a Montague. You are Romeo, the man I love! Again, if were were someone else, I could go out with you in public! You don't need to be a Montague to be Romeo. Forsake your family for me.
Romeo: As you say it, I am no longer a Montague.
Juliet: What will your new name be?
Romeo: I don't know. I hate my name because I can't be with you.
Juliet: You aren't making any sense. Are you Romeo or a Montague?
Romeo: Whatever you would like me to be.
Juliet: Why are you here? If anyone sees you, you're dead.
Romeo: I will go wherever you are, because I love you.
Juliet: You don't understand, they'll kill you.
Romeo: Your beauty is more dangerous than the lot of them.
Juliet: I hope they don't see you, for your sake.
Romeo: I'll be here as you are here, for I love you.
Juliet: How did you find me?
Romeo: Love led the way
Juliet: Is it love or lust? Prove to me it is love.
Romeo: What shall I swear by?
Juliet: Nothing. I have to go. Good night!
Romeo: Don't go!
Juliet: Good night!
Romeo: Please, no!
Nurse: Juliet!
Juliet: I have to go!
Romeo: But I love you!
Juliet: What time will we meet?
Romeo:9:00 a.m.
Juliet: I'll be there!
Romeo: Good night!

Romeo and Juliet- Carleigh Penrod p.5

Romeo: Dang that girl is fine! I have to have her! Juliet, kiss me!

Juliet: Heck no, boy! That's bad!

Romeo: Come on babe! I won't stop stalking you until you do.

Juliet: Let's do something a little less serious. Like touch hands.

Romeo: This isn't sin! Come here sweet thaaang! (Plants one on her)

Juliet:  Oh my goodness, I'm the worst person ever! How could you do something so wrong?

Romeo: It's fine, don't worry about! Just one more, baby.(Kisses her)

Juliet: Dang boy, where did you learn to kiss like that?

Nurse: Juliet, your mom wants to see you.

Romeo: Who is that girl? She's fiiiiine!

Nurse: She's that hosts daughter.

Romeo: Seriously? A Capulet?! I'm going to blow my chances with that angel!

Colloquial Translation Brooklynn Mouteer

Romeo and Juliet
Act two Scene two

And I was like baby baby baby no
I was like baby baby baby oh
I want you to be mine mine.
And by the way I think your HOT!!!!!

Colliquial Translation by Karli Maynes pd. 1

Romeo. You're too good for me, but I want to do something bad. I want to kiss you.

Juliet.  Boy, you do bad things too much. Instead of kissing, we could hold hands. That is just as good as a kiss.

Romeo.  No it's not.

Juliet. Yes it is, and lips are not for kissing, they are for talking.

Romeo. Fine, but I have a better idea. We could hold hands with our lips.

Juliet. No, lips are for talking.

Romeo. We will talk with our lips together.

[Kisses her.]

Juliet. You just made me do something bad.

Romeo. Really? Lets do it again.

[Kisses her.]

Juliet. You kiss very well.

Nurse. Juliet, your mom wants to talk to you.

Romeo. Who's her mom?

Nurse. Sir, she is the hostess. She lives here. She's a good woman. I raised her child. Any man to have her will be very happy.

Romeo. Is her last name Capulet? Oh, no! I am her enemy.

Act 1 Scene 5 Collquial Translation Tyler Mitchell

Romeo: If I only had one chance to kiss you or die. YOLO!
Juliet: You go so fast!  Is this how your mom taught you to act around women?

Romeo: But your lips are so inviting!
Juliet: What about the sin!? We must please god!

Romeo: Let us show god our love for each other with a kiss.
Juliet: But I don't know you very well.

Romeo: But you will after this! (Kisses her)
Juliet: I have sinned!

Romeo: Sin With me again babe! (Kisses her again)
Juliet: You know what you are doing!

Romeo and Juliet Act 2 Scene 2 Max McMillan

Romeo: She says
Oh, say something again, beautiful woman. Your more atrractive than the moon itself, being over my head, as an angel from heaven. You have all eyes turned to you of peole who didn't know what beauty was until now. When they walk by, all they can do is stare and gaze.

Juliet: Oh Romeo, Romeo where are you Romeo? I won't listen to the Capulets or my father about your people. You pretend to not be a Montague and I will pretend to not be a Capulet.

Romeo: Do I have to listen to you more, or can I talk now?

Juliet: Because you are a Montague, you are actually my enemy. Please don't be a Montague, don't be called by the name of a Montague. Your name is Romeo. Retain your title of that name. It's yours to keep forever.

Romeo: I will take thee at your word, don't call me your love, and I will be a new person to many people. For that, I will not be called Romeo.

Romeo and Juliet Scene 2 Act 2 #522

Romeo! Romeo! Why are you a Romeo?
I won't listen to my father about the Montagues because YOLO!
Pretend you're not a Montague and I'll pretend to not be a Capulet.

Are you going to say more or can I speak now?

It is only your last name that my family hates.
You are Romeo, not Montague.
I mean, what the heck is Montague? It isn't a hand or foot
Not arm or face, or any other part
that is on a man or woman. Oh, please have a last name!
What is in a name? That we call a flower
Any other last name would smell so sweet but since you're a Montague it sounds like death.
So Romeo, if that wasn't your name,
Own that dear perfection that you own.
Without the last name Montague. Romeo is your name,
And for the name, that is no part of you,
I will take myself.

Hybrid Letter - # 69

Dear Nathan,
I am concerned for your family. You have brought your family here to Congo on a personal mission and it's tearing your family apart. I feel that you aren't seeing the big picture. You are very self centered and you don't support your family. As a single parent with two children of my own, family is very important to me. Just a word of advice, care for your family first. Make sure their needs have been taken care of and that they are in the healthiest condition possible. Lastly don't ever put your hand upon your family members, they don't deserve it, they are just looking for your approval and love.
Sincerely, Atticus (To Kill a Mockingbird)

Hybrid Letter - # 69

The way you stood up and took charge was so amazing. You lead that family so well. Leah you will be a great mother one day. Keep up the good work!
Sincerely, Calpurnia (To Kill a Mockingbird)

I feel like we would get along real well. We could become great friends! We both have friends who are boys and that we do stuff with. My friends name is Dill. I'm going to marry him one day. Your friend Pascal seems pretty cool! He reminds me of Dill a lot! We have many things in common but there's just one thing that I don't understand, why do you call your dad "Father", why don't you call him by his first name like I call my dad Atticus? I don't think that our dad's would get along very well....Oh well Ruth, I hope I get to meet you soon! We could do lots of things like play "Mother May I" or spy on the African Communist Boy Scouts! That would be lots of fun! Please write me back!

Hybrid Letter 613

To: Nathan Price (Poisonwood Bible)
From: Clarrise (Fahrenheit 451)
Do you ever take the chance to stop and observe the real world? I want you to consider how the Congolese view you, your religion, and what you're doing to their culture. Breathe in the air and realize you're not at home anymore. Trying to force them your way is only pushing them farther from you. They take time to stop and look, to be grateful for what they have, and offer what they can. You should be less selfish, show your family you care, and make an effort to understand the Congolese. Don't get so wrapped around your own world, rather take a chance to let go of some things.

Hybrid Letter, Makayla Schilling, pd. 1

To my dear Adah (Poisonwood Bible),
You have so much potential that is bottled up inside of you. You shouldn't let the world crush your spirit due to your physical features. In your mind, you are a true warrior who can accomplish anything. Just remember that how you think of yourself is what others think of you. You are a beautiful young lady that is still growing within you. Don't let the little complication of moving to Africa affect you, but let the culture and people move you.
Sincerely,
Atticus (To Kill A Mockingbird)

Hybrid Letter by: Janelle

Dear Mr. Nathan Price (The Poisonwood Bible):

Look mista, you can't act like so and expect 'em to be nice to ya.But they are. Like I always says, "If yo' comp'ny wants to eat the tablecloth you'd better let them eat the tablecloth." The villagers have been nuthin' but nice to ya and you just look down yo' nose at them. It's not right

Take better care of yo' folks down yonder. Yo' chillun are growin' up, no thanks to you. You wanna let 'em die or somethin'? Open those eyes of yo's.

Sincerely,
Calpurnia (To Kill a Mockingbird)

Emily Wahlquist Color Personification

White:
She is pure and clean. A smile graces her face and love is unconditionally showered on all she knows. Kindness is her shadow and a consuming peace is left in her gentle wake. White is soft spoken; her gentle laugh falls like dews drops crystal clear. White is wondrously beautiful and those that look upon her face say it shines with a celestial glow. White is aware of everyone and everything. She takes care of all; no tear goes unnoticed, no hurt feeling uncared for. She gives life to all that she holds and everything she touches is made new, whole, bright, and perfect. White is all knowing and wise. She has a perfect understanding of everything from how to create Tylenol, to growing and nurturing plant life. She teaches in such a way that any listener understands and learns, and she can play every musical instrument. She has the power and understanding to organize matter and the intelligences of the universe. She gives perfect justice and perfect mercy. Every element known and unknown listens to her every word. They hear her, listen, and obey. When she sings, it is more beautiful, tremendous and inspiring than the choirs of angels in the heavens. Heaven is her home, her kingdom divine.

Color Personification #518

Cool, calm and collected, Purple nearly always has control over their emotions and feelings. It may seem cold and distant to others, but it just prefer mind over heart. Purple is kind to others who respect their boundaries, and is very protective once attached to someone. Purple's friends are complementary Yellow, cool Blue, and fiery Red. Being intelligent, they know a great amount about pretty much everything. They enjoy flaunting their intellect by solving puzzles, crimes, and any provided problem. If ever anyone comes to them for advice, they say what ever seems most logical. It doesn't always work out. Purple, a royal color, is infamous for it's laziness and oft asks of others to preform tasks for them. When one takes the form of purple; male, female, or genderqueer, they have smooth bodies and faces, usually perceived as feminine.
